The Sandy Pond Alliance (SPA), a coalition of NGOs and community leaders will file suit against the federal government in an initiative to protect Canadian lakes.

The Sandy Pond Alliance is a Newfoundland based coalition of local scientists and activists, as well as local and national organizations, including the Newfoundland and Labrador Natural History Society, the Council of Canadians, MiningWatch and the Sierra Club Atlantic Canada.
