Media Advisory - Conference Board of Canada's Atlantic Business Outlook: Newfoundland and Labrador
ST. JOHN'S, March 28, 2017 /CNW/ - The Newfoundland and Labrador economy will continue to struggle in 2017, as it contends with the adverse effects of major investment projects unwinding, fiscally restrictive measures that will hamper household spending, and soft commodity prices. The Conference Board of Canada's Provincial Outlook forecasts that the province will be the only one to face a recession in 2017, with real GDP contracting by 1.8 per cent.
The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, together with the Conference Board's Chief Economist, Craig Alexander, and Deputy Chief Economist, Pedro Antunes will discuss the issues relevant to Newfoundland and Labrador's economy at the Atlantic Business Outlook: Newfoundland and Labrador in St. John's, on March 30.
