MEDIA ADVISORY - Contrary to What the Politicians tell you, Most Provincial Debt is Accumulated Because of Policy Choices - Not Volatile Commodity Prices: School of Public Policy Report
CALGARY, May 13, 2015 /CNW/ - Tomorrow, on May 14th, The School of Public Policy will release two reports by Prof. Ron Kneebone. Based on data that goes back to 1980 – the reports reveal that in the 4 resource dependant provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Colombia, and Newfoundland and Labrador) most debt is caused by government policy, not a sudden fall in commodity prices like the politicians would have your believe. This is non-partisan bad policy - all provinces that enjoy large amounts of resource revenues handle them badly. The report will show how, and why that is the case.
The reports will be released online at www.policyschool.ca/publications on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. mountain time. A press release will be issued simultaneously across CNW.
