TORONTO, June 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro) will host an Open House tomorrow to encourage members from the community to learn about the start of construction on the company's new downtown transformer station. This is the first station built in the downtown core by Toronto Hydro since 1955 and will provide electrical service to buildings and neighbourhoods in the central-southwest region of Toronto.

Why: | In downtown Toronto, there is an immediate need for additional capacity at Windsor Transformer Station (TS) in order to enable staged replacements of its end-of-life equipment. This new station, when complete, will provide this capacity, as well as additional capacity to serve new load in this high-density, high-growth area of Toronto. |
