OTTAWA-GATINEAU, Jan. 21, 2016 /CNW/ - The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) will hold a public hearing in Gatineau, Quebec, from Monday, January 25 to Wednesday February 3, 2016 as part of its review of local and community television.
During the Let's Talk TV proceeding, the CRTC identified several challenges faced by local and community television in this digital age where both content and viewers are increasingly moving towards digital services. Moreover, a survey conducted as part of that proceeding revealed that 81% of Canadians believe that local news is important. In light of this, the CRTC wishes to discuss future approaches for ensuring access to local information and community programming.
If you plan on attending the hearing or would like more information about it, please contact Media Relations at 819-997-9403 or by email at [email protected].
A live audio feed of the hearing will be available on the CRTC website at www.crtc.gc.ca.
A live video feed will be available on the Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC): www.cpac.ca
