Media Advisory - Day one of strike by Personal Support Workers begins at Queen's Park
TORONTO, Dec. 11, 2013 /CNW/ - A province-wide strike by 4,500 homecare workers begins today with a rally by SEIU Healthcare members from the Toronto area in front of the Ontario Legislature.
SEIU Healthcare members, on strike against the for-profit company Red Cross Care Partners, the largest homecare agency in Ontario, will gather at Nathan Phillips Square at 11 a.m. and walk up University Avenue to Queen's Park for a 1 p.m. rally.
Hot soup will be served as PSWs call on the Ontario government to ensure homecare dollars are spent on front-line care, rather than company profits and excessive executive salaries.
