ST JOHN'S, Feb. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - The Public Service Alliance of Canada is hosting a news conference that includes a man rescued by the St. John's Maritime Rescue Sub-centre last year, a Maritime Search and Rescue coordinator and other members of the MayDay Coalition at 11:30 a.m. NL / 10:00 a.m. EST on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Battery Hotel in St. John's. Participants will launch a video highlighting the absurdity of putting lives at risk to pay off the deficit, part of a social media campaign arguing that it doesn't make sense to force Canadians to choose between a strong economy and strong public services like Search and Rescue. The news conference is delayed due to a snow storm in Newfoundland.
The video will be launched at the news conference and in English at www.thirdchoice.ca and in French at www.troisiemechoix.ca.
Local and national media are invited to attend in person or by teleconference.
