TORONTO, Sept. 9, 2015 /CNW/ - There are still plenty of opportunities to explore Ontario's rich and diverse heritage as part of Doors Open Ontario 2015. From September 12 until mid-October, over 20 communities across the province will provide visitors access to architectural showpieces, cultural landmarks and natural wonders – all free of charge.
This year's theme − Play. Endure. Inspire: Ontario's sport heritage − explores the traditions, innovations and heroes of sport in Ontario. In addition to its variety of regular sites, Doors Open Ontario 2015 also features community centres, sport fields, halls of fame and arenas.
Since its launch in 2002, Doors Open Ontario has grown from 17 events to 44, representing hundreds of communities across the province and thousands of participating sites. Now in its 14th year, the program generates more than 450,000 site visits each year.
