Media Advisory - Downtown Oshawa to welcome Holiday Inn Express and Oshawa Convention Centre
OSHAWA, June 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Join Chayell Hospitality Group, along with the Oshawa Mayor and members of Council and other dignitaries, for the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Holiday Inn Express and Oshawa Convention Centre.
The $21-million development will be located in downtown Oshawa and include a 6-storey hotel with 125 guest rooms, restaurant with an outdoor patio, indoor pool and fitness facilities, surface and underground parking, and a convention centre that will accommodate approximately 300-400 people.
The Holiday Inn Express and Oshawa Convention Centre is expected to be completed by December 2014 - in time for Oshawa's hosting of TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games boxing events at the General Motors Centre sports and entertainment venue.
Since the opening of the General Motors Centre in 2006, downtown Oshawa has transformed into a vibrant entertainment and cultural centre. The downtown is home to street-level television studios, five university buildings (including a historic theatre), Durham Region's first co-working office, Lakeridge Health, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery and Parkwood National Historic Site.
