Media Advisory - Educators to meet, defend teachers' voices at Canadian Teachers' Federation annual meeting in the capital - July 10-12, 2013 - Marriott Hotel, Ottawa, Ontario

OTTAWA, July 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Nearly 100 teacher leaders from across the country will come to Ottawa July 10-12 for the Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) Annual General Meeting (AGM). The three-day event will follow the theme of "The Teacher Voice: Defending Democracy", a continuation of the CTF's "Hear My Voice" campaign to encourage transparency and cooperation with teacher organizations at a federal level (http://vox.ctf-fce.ca).

The AGM is the top governing body of the CTF. Delegates from Member organizations will, alongside the Executive and Board of Directors, debate and determine the budget for the coming year, elect new vice-presidents and discuss both reports on the past year and priorities for the coming year. The key issues discussed and resolutions made will have an impact on educators and students nationally.

This year's meeting will also mark the end of President Paul Taillefer's two-year term; he will be succeeded by President-designate Dianne Woloschuk of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation.
