MEDIA ADVISORY - EI premium rates: Restaurant industry spokesperson
available to comment
TORONTO, Sept. 30 /CNW/ - Garth Whyte, president and CEO of the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association, will be available today to comment on 2011 EI premium rates.
- CRFA has been lobbying the federal government to hold the line on EI premiums and to cover any deficit in the fund from general revenues.
- If government doesn't act, the scheduled EI premium increase will cost the restaurant industry $300 million in 2011.
- With more than one million employees, the restaurant industry is a leading job creator in Canada.
- Fully 35 cents out of every dollar spent at a restaurant goes directly to payroll costs - second only to food and beverage costs.
