Media Advisory - Energy Sector Executives Meeting in Toronto
TORONTO, Oct. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Media are invited to join Ontario energy sector executives Thursday, October 24 at two events hosted by the Electricity Distributors Association.
The inaugural Women in Power event will focus on the growing role of women in a traditionally male-dominated sector. Speakers will include:
- Maureen Sabia, Board Chair, Canadian Tire, and appointed to the Order of Canada for her support for women's advancement in the corporate sector. (8:30-9:00 a.m.)
- Barb Keenan, Senior Vice President, People and Culture and Chief Ethics Officer, Ontario Power Generation (9:00-9:30 a.m.)
- Panel discussion: Barb Keenan, Senior Vice President, People and Culture and Chief Ethics Officer, OPG; Ave Lethbridge, Chief Human Resources and Safety Officer, Toronto Hydro; Judy May, Vice President, Special Projects, SaskPower; and Sarah Shortreed, Chief Information Officer, Bruce Power (9:30-10:30 a.m.)
The annual EDA Executive Symposium will feature speakers who have navigated transformative change in the realms of politics, media and sports and entertainment:
- Rt. Hon. John Gummer, Lord Deben - The UK's longest serving Secretary of State for the Environment and now chairman of an independent committee advising the UK government on climate change. (1:00-2:00 p.m.)
- John Stackhouse - Editor-in-Chief, The Globe and Mail (2:00-3:00 p.m.)
- Richard Peddie - Former CEO, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (3:30-4:30 p.m.)
Both events are being held at the Art Gallery of Ontario (317 Dundas Street West).
