What are the transmission projects being proposed?
Bill 50 is proposed new legislation that will push through multi-billion dollar transmission system upgrades for which we as Albertans will bear the cost. If the bill is passed, it will alter the existing approval process to make these upgrades happen. ENMAX would like to see major transmission decisions open to full public input and the need determined by the independent regulator, the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC).
Although some transmission infrastructure is needed, ENMAX believes there are alternative, more cost effective means to ensure the lights stay on in Alberta.
