Media Advisory - EQAO TO RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2010 PROVINCIAL TESTING
RESULTS AND AN ANALYSIS OF HOW A COHORT OF STUDENTS PROGRESSED FROM GRADE 3
TO GRADE 6 TO GRADE 9
TORONTO, Aug. 27 /CNW/ - At 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will release provincial-level student achievement results on the 2009-2010 Assessments of Reading, Writing and Mathematics, Primary Division (Grades 1-3) and Junior Division (Grades 4-6), and the Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics. Highlights of these results will be posted on EQAO's Web site, www.eqao.com.
For the first time, EQAO will also publish an analysis that tracks student progress in mathematics achievement over three provincial assessments. This analysis maps the progress of the cohort of students who wrote the provincial mathematics assessment in Grade 3 in 2004, Grade 6 in 2007 and Grade 9 in 2010.
As always, the 2010 test booklets, as well as the answer keys and samples of written student responses at each performance level, will be available on the Web site to give the public a chance to see the types of curriculum-based skills Ontario students are expected to demonstrate on the assessments.
On September 15, 2010, EQAO will release individual school and board reports and two full provincial reports: an elementary school report on the results of the primary- and junior-division assessments and a secondary school report on the results of the Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. These reports will include subgroup and contextual data, a summary of findings, strategies for success and profiles of successful schools. Schools and boards will have their results under embargo until that date. They will be able to speak about their results as of September 15.
