Media Advisory - ETFO Annual Meeting - Stephen Lewis Foundation to Announce Plans for African Grandmothers' Human Rights Tribunal
TORONTO, Aug. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Ilana Landsberg-Lewis, executive director of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, will address upwards to 800 delegates at the Annual Meeting of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) this Tuesday morning.
Landsberg-Lewis will announce the upcoming people's tribunal: 'The African Grandmothers Tribunal, seeking justice at the frontlines of the AIDS crisis'. Along with personal testimonies from six grandmothers caring for some of the millions of children orphaned by AIDS, the tribunal will consist of a panel including author Gloria Steinem, and will feature speakers Stephen Lewis and African Women's Development Fund CEO Theo Sowa among others. The initiative is part of the Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, a Canadian network of over 240 grandmothers' groups that raises funds for their African counterparts.
