Media Advisory - Fatal Flaws Invalidate BC Hydro's Site C Business Case
VANCOUVER, May 25, 2015 /CNW/ - Members of the media and the public are invited to attend a one-hour briefing hosted by the PVLA to hear respected energy economist Robert McCullough and others outline fatal flaws in the business case for the $8.8 billion Site C Dam, including:
- Contrary to Energy and Mines Minister Bill Bennett, Site C is likely double the cost of other energy options
- BC Hydro's financial analysis is skewed to favour Site C over alternatives
- Contrary to BC Hydro statements, a 2 year delay to Site C will save ratepayers $200 million
- The Site C final investment decision ignores critical new information on geothermal energy
- Contrary to Finance Minister Mike de Jong's statements, Site C is not a green project
Robert McCullough's testimony in front of the U.S. Senate Energy Committee is credited with initiating the Enron trading investigations.
