Media Advisory - Federal Minister Maxime Bernier to speak to Centennial College students about entrepreneurship
TORONTO, Jan. 30, 2015 /CNW/ - The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism) (Agriculture) will be visiting Centennial College's Progress Campus on Tuesday, February 3 to speak to engineering technology and business students about the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation to the Canadian economy.
Minister Bernier will also tour the college's Culinary Arts Centre and learn how to sear a steak alongside students in a culinary skills lab. Centennial culinary ambassador and Food Network personality Chef Robert Rainford will be on hand to pass along some of his trademark grilling tips to the Minister.
The Minister's visit is a timely one as the college begins construction of its Centennial Residence and Culinary Arts Centre, which will feature new kitchen labs and classrooms, a teaching restaurant, and a conference and events centre. The eight-storey residence, designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, will provide accommodations for 740 students.
Minister Bernier recognizes the vital role Centennial College and other public colleges have in fostering a strong entrepreneurial and innovative business sector, as well as a vibrant hospitality and tourism industry, to help expand the Canadian economy.
