Find out how Toronto region office buildings fared in CivicAction's four-year energy reduction marathon

TORONTO, Nov. 5, 2015 /CNW/ - In this season of marathons, the people who own, lease and work in Toronto region office buildings are heading over their own finish line, in CivicAction's ground-breaking four-year challenge to reduce office energy use.

Tonight, the cream of the real estate crop will join CivicAction at the final Race to Reduce awards to vie for top-finisher status in team excellence, greatest energy reduction, and lowest energy use.

The Honourable Glen Murray, Ontario Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, will set the stage for the finale, where CivicAction will reveal results for individual and collective energy reduction in the 2011-2014 marathon.

CivicAction's Race to Reduce is one of the largest regional energy challenges in the world with 196 buildings participating representing more than 69 million square feet or 42 per cent of the commercial office space in the region.

Since launching the Race in 2011, CivicAction has earned multiple awards for the friendly competition that challenges Toronto region landlords and tenants in office buildings to work together to collectively reduce energy use in participating buildings by at least 10 per cent over four years.
