…new national food and fundraising campaign running May 2 - 8 created to help fill 26 million plates needed this summer…
TORONTO, April 14, 2015 /CNW/ - Today Food Banks Canada unveiled plans for #EveryPlateFull, a new national food and fundraising campaign to keep food banks stocked when donations are at their lowest during the summer months. #EveryPlateFull urges Canadians to make food or monetary donations to fill the 26 million plates that will be needed by Canadians who are hungry this summer.
Why: This summer 918,724 Canadians will rely on food banks to provide 26,548,725 meals. However, donations to food banks are at their lowest during the summer holidays, and many food banks are challenged to meet the needs of all of their recipients.
What: Food banks across Canada are participating in #EveryPlateFull, a new fundraising campaign designed to raise enough food and funds to keep food bank shelves stocked June through August. To increase awareness of the number of Canadians who will be hungry this summer and drive donations to #EveryPlateFull, Food Banks Canada will be encouraging Canadians to post a photo of an empty plate on social media along with #EveryPlateFull and a link to www.everyplatefull.ca.
How: Donations can be made through www.everyplatefull.ca or directly to participating local food banks. Every $1 you donate provides 3 meals at Canadian food banks.
When: #EveryPlateFull will run from Saturday May 2 to Friday May 8, 2015.
