TORONTO, Feb. 19, 2015 /CNW/ - The George Brown College Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts is pleased to welcome world-renowned three-Michelin-star chef and restaurateur Massimo Bottura to Culinary Cities of the World, an exclusive series of events from March 4-6, 2015. This year's theme features the food and wine of the cities in the Emilia Romagna region in northern Italy.

This is an opportunity to learn about Italy's evolving culinary scene, taste the rich flavours of Emilia Romagna and interact and learn from Chef Bottura's process. It is also a chance to mix and mingle with some of Toronto's most dynamic chefs and personalities in the food & beverage industry.

Live Cooking Demonstration

WHAT:		Chef Massimo Bottura will lead a live interactive cooking demonstration. The demonstration will be followed by a tasting of Bottura's creations.

In Conversation with Massimo Bottura

WHAT:		Gain an insider's perspective on the Italian/global culinary scene and what it takes to succeed in this competitive landscape from Chef Bottura.  Led by the Toronto Sun's Lifestyle and Food reporter, Rita Demontis, this engaging Q&A will feature Chef Bottura's reflections on his professional journey, his inspirations (including working with Alain Ducasse and Ferran Adrià), and his creative approach to cooking. The conversation will be followed by a wine-and-cheese reception and a signing of Chef Bottura's book, Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef.

Student Culinary Contest

WHAT:		Eight George Brown College Culinary Art Italian Post-Graduate students will participate in a lively contest where they will create Italian-inspired recipes. The winner will receive a three-month stage at Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, which includes the cost of airfare and accommodations.

Italian Culinary Market

WHAT:		A walk-around food market featuring a superb selection of palate-pleasing fare and Italian-inspired hors d'oeuvres of the cities of Emilia Romagna prepared by local celebrity chefs including Rob Gentile of Buca, Claudio Aprile of Origin Restaurant & Bar, Jason Bangerter of Langdon Hall, and Fabio Bondi of Local Kitchen. Under the Stars Gala Dinner and Fundraiser

WHAT:		This fundraiser is co-hosted by George Brown College, Buca Restaurant, and the Consul General of Italy. Proceeds from the gala dinner will benefit the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA) Scholarship Fund. Dinner will be prepared by Buca, Chef Bottura, and his team. This is an invitation-only event.
