Media Advisory - Government of Canada to provide Canadian researchers with major funding to pursue science without boundaries

VICTORIA, Sept. 7, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, will announce major funding for fundamental research in the natural sciences and engineering. The Minister will be joined by Dr. B. Mario Pinto, President of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

The funds include grants to established and early-career professors as well as scholarships to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows across Canada. The investment will provide researchers with the foundation they need to push the boundaries of discovery and innovation while strengthening a culture of curiosity and diversity in Canadian science.

Following the announcement, Minister Duncan and Dr. Pinto will meet with a group of University of Victoria researchers who will have assembled a collection of bold displays and novel experiments showcasing their work.
