OTTAWA, Jan. 25, 2015 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will deliver remarks and take part in the presentation of the annual Arctic Inspiration Prize. The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 8:00 p.m., at the Shaw Centre, in Ottawa, Ontario.
"The Arctic is a vital part of our country and home to many thousands of people. We need to continue to improve these communities. The Arctic projects being undertaken by these incredible and passionate teams are tremendously important for the region. I look forward to knowing who will be this year's laureates of the Arctic Inspiration Prize," said the Governor General. "I am delighted to support the leadership of those who innovate and invest in the future of the North through concrete solutions."
About the Artic Inspiration Prize
The Artic Inspiration Prize is awarded annually to multidisciplinary teams who are ready to push forward innovative plans that benefit the Arctic and its peoples, break barriers, and improve their communities. Between one and five teams are selected as laureates of the Prize and awarded a total of $1 million to implement their ideas.
Members of the media wishing to cover the awards ceremony should arrive at the Shaw Centre no later than 7:45 p.m. on the day of the ceremony.
