Media Advisory - Governor General to Attend the Royal Canadian Logistics Service 50th Anniversary Parade Français
OTTAWA, Oct. 15, 2018 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will attend the commemoration parade of the Royal Canadian Logistics Service on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The event will take place on Parliament Hill on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 12:30 p.m.
At 1 p.m., the Governor General will arrive and then receive military honours, including a Royal salute and a 21-gun salute. She will then inspect the 100-person guard of honour before addressing the serving and retired logistics members from across all elements of both the Regular and Reserve Forces, and from all regions of Canada. She will also congratulate the Branch on receiving its Royal designation from Her Majesty The Queen, making it the Royal Canadian Logistics Service.
About the Royal Canadian Logistics Service
The Logistics Branch originally existed as separate units and regiments throughout the history of the Canadian Armed Forces, with its members ranging from cooks to administrators. This year marks the 50th anniversary of those units being brought together under the banner of a unified Logistics Branch.
