Media advisory - Governor General to celebrate 100th anniversary of the
Fusiliers Mont-Royal's presence in heart of Plateau
MONTREAL, May 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives are invited to attend a ceremony celebrating the 100th anniversary of the military armoury on Henri-Julien Street. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, in the presence of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean.
The Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada will be on hand to mark the official naming of the armoury, which will become the Fusiliers Mont-Royal Armoury in honour of its occupants.
Located in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal, the armoury of Montreal's first Francophone regiment was designated a federal heritage building because of its architecture, its environmental importance and its historical significance.
