On the occasion of the Accelerator Centre's 10th anniversary celebrations, the Governor General will visit the Centre to see client demonstrations and deliver remarks. Founding patron of the Centre when he was president and vice-chancellor of the University of Waterloo, His Excellency will talk about the Centre's beginnings and how it is making a difference in Canada's innovation landscape.

The Governor General will visit the Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre, the academic engine for entrepreneurship at the University of Waterloo, and meet with some of its students. He will speak to them briefly about the importance of innovation and their role as future business leaders in Canada.

Syrian Refugee Volunteer Recognition Event
Their Excellencies will participate in a volunteer recognition event to honour community partners and volunteer organizations who have, with COSTI Immigrant Services, welcomed and helped settle over 1 900 Syrian newcomers to Toronto over the last few months. The Governor General will present awards to the organizations being recognized and will also deliver remarks.
Meeting the needs of a diverse society since 1952, COSTI Immigrant Services is a community-based multicultural agency that provides employment, educational, settlement and social services to all immigrant communities, new Canadians and individuals in need of assistance. Operating out of 17 locations in Toronto, the Region of Peel and York Region, COSTI provides services in more than 60 languages. In 2015, over 39 000 individuals received assistance.
