OTTAWA, Jan. 20, 2017 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will present the 2016 Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) Vanier Medal to Mr. James (Jim) R. Eldridge, past Clerk of the Executive Council and Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Relations for the Government of Manitoba. The ceremony will be held at Rideau Hall on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 2 p.m.
On this occasion, His Excellency will recognize and honour Mr. Eldridge for nearly five decades of contributions to Canadian public service.
About the Vanier Medal
The Vanier Medal, managed by IPAC, is one of the highest forms of recognition for Canadian public administrators. It was created in 1962, in honour of then-Governor General the Right Honourable Georges P. Vanier. The medal is awarded annually to a person who has made significant contributions to and has shown distinctive leadership in the fields of public administration and public service in Canada.
