OTTAWA, Nov. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will undertake an official visit to Manitoba on November 26 and 27, 2018.
During this visit, the Governor General will meet with provincial officials and community members. She will also have an opportunity to witness the dynamic Franco-Manitoban community and the incredible work being done by Bear Clan Patrol volunteers. She will also visit Canadian Forces Base 17 Wing Winnipeg.

Meeting with the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba
Her Excellency will meet with Their Honours the Honourable Janice C. Filmon, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, and the Honourable Gary Albert Filmon.

Official Welcoming Ceremony
Her Excellency will be officially welcomed to the province by Her Honour the Honourable Janice C. Filmon, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba; the Honourable Brian Pallister, Premier of Manitoba; and the Honourable Myrna Driedger, Speaker of the House. She will receive military honours that will include a guard of honour, the "Viceregal Salute" and a 21-gun salute from 17 Wing Winnipeg.

Visit to Université de Saint-Boniface
The Governor General will visit Université de Saint-Boniface on the occasion of its 200th anniversary. Upon arrival, Her Excellency will tour the nursing science laboratory where she will see students practising their nursing skills on mannequins.

Celebration of Francophone Culture in Manitoba
Her Excellency will participate in a celebration of Francophone culture at Fort Gibraltar. The event will be hosted by the Société de la francophonie manitobaine, the Festival du Voyageur and le Centre culturel franco-manitobain, and will feature traditional fiddle music. On this occasion, Her Excellency will deliver brief remarks.

Visit to Canadian Forces Base 17 Wing Winnipeg
Upon arrival at CFB 17 Wing Winnipeg, Her Excellency will receive an overview of the Combined Air Operations Centre. Afterwards, she will meet with the crew of 402 Squadron before visiting with 435 Squadron to learn more about their transport and rescue mission.
17 Wing is a composite formation conducting and supporting flying operations and a variety of training and command functions. The Wing also supports 113 units stretching from Thunder Bay, Ontario, to the Saskatchewan/Alberta border, and from the 49th parallel to the high Arctic.
