MONTREAL, Oct. 2, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - From Amsterdam to Vancouver, Helsinki, Singapore and London, cities that bank on the new economy in their development strategy all agree that libraries are key drivers of an economy built on the free flow of ideas.
More than regions or countries, cities are the actual engines of social and economical development. In the last few years, it has been widely acknowledged that entrepreneurial creativity is at the root of their dynamism. Consequently, cities who strive for creative status build large central libraries.
Since its opening, in 2005, the Grande Bibliothèque has enjoyed record-breaking visitorship. It is currently the most visited public library in North America and the French-speaking world. Apart from the 1.5 million books it holds, to what can we attribute its success and how does it contribute to the advent of the new economy?
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you to this most interesting luncheon presentation.
