OTTAWA, Oct. 22 /CNW/ - The Red Cross is responding to a cholera outbreak in Haiti's rural Artibonite region. According to the Haitian Ministry of Health, over 1,000 people have been affected, and over 140 people have died. The Red Cross has provided medical supplies, clean water, intravenous fluids, antibiotics and additional supplies such as tents and sleeping mats.
Canadian Red Cross aid workers are in Haiti and available for comments and media interviews today and throughout the weekend.
