Media Advisory - Healthy Canada: Examining The Importance Of Funding Models and Financial Incentives For Health
OTTAWA, Nov. 26, 2015 /CNW/ - With health consuming more than 40 per cent of provincial and territorial budgets in Canada, the sustainability of the health care system and our ability to meet the needs of the population is of concern. The Conference Board of Canada estimates total provincial spending on health care will reach $397 billion by 2034-35, in contrast to $137 billion in 2013-14, under a "business as usual" scenario.
The Conference Board of Canada's Healthy Canada: Financial Models and Fiscal Incentives in Health and Health Care conference will bring together health experts to discuss:
- The sustainability of the Canadian health care system
- The factors that impact health care spending and what it means for the economy and social wellness
- Funding models in health care delivery
- Financial incentives to promoting healthy active living
The event will be chaired by André Picard, Public Health Reporter, The Globe and Mail.
