Media Advisory - Hollywood celebrity lends talents to life changing,
fundraising fitness extravaganza
HALIFAX, Oct. 8 /CNW/ - Halifax is set to host the second annual Bust a Move for Breast Health fundraiser, a unique fundraising event where participants raise pledges to help generate awareness and funding for improved breast health. Bust a Move for Breast Health, jointly hosted by the IWK and QEII Foundations, will be the first public event at the Canada Games Centre on March 26, 2011, following the 2011 Winter Games.
Bust a Move 2010 raised over $1.14 million to purchase a digital mammography machine which will detect cancer in its earliest stage, reduce wait times and increase the number of screens that can be completed each year.
In 2010, Richard Simmons kept the crowd bustin' and movin' to the oldies through the last hour with his contagious energy. Next year, Bust a Move's celebrity guest is sure to have the crowd dancing like there's no tomorrow!
The second edition of this home-grown event will be launched on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Park Lane Empire Theatres (Capitol Theatre) where volunteer event chair Sarah MacDonald, representatives from the IWK and QEII Foundations, breast cancer patients, advocates, sponsors and event volunteers will come together to outline the event, present this year's cause, and announce the special celebrity guest.
