Media Advisory - Honours for Canadian Helicopter Force, Afghanistan

VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Jan. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives are invited to be present for the arrival of the Air Marshal W.A. Bishop VC Memorial Trophy, which was recently presented to the Canadian Helicopter Force, Afghanistan (CHF-A).

The Canadian Helicopter Force, Afghanistan , which is now back in Canada , recently received the Air Marshal W.A. Bishop VC Memorial Trophy for its many achievements in the theatre of operations.

To celebrate this accomplishment, 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron is organizing a ceremony to present the trophy to Colonel Marc Bigaouette , Commander of the CHF-A, and his team. The trophy, escorted by Corporal Fraser and Captain Vandal , will arrive at Valcartier by helicopter and will be displayed at the base for a few weeks.

The Air Marshal W.A. Bishop VC Memorial Trophy, which was first presented in 1988, is awarded "in recognition of outstanding and meritorious achievement in any field of aviation." The members of CHF-A have been granted this honour because they have demonstrated exceptional standards of performance and dedication.

NOTE TO EDITORS:

Before the ceremony, there will be a helicopter flight over Quebec City to announce the honour and to transport the trophy. Three seats will be available for the media.
