Media advisory - Housing co-ops gather in Niagara Falls to protect and expand co-op housing
NIAGARA FALLS, ON, June 7, 2017 /CNW/ - Over 700 members and supporters of Canada's housing co-ops are gathered in Niagara Falls this week for the annual meeting of the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada (CHF Canada).
They will explore exciting new prospects for investing and partnering towards the creation of more co-op housing to address Canada's growing housing affordability crisis.
CHF Canada's Annual Meeting includes education workshops, a national business meeting and tourist activities designed to give conference participants a taste of Niagara Falls.
With the announcement of a federal National Housing Strategy expected later this year, and with provincial and municipal governments eager to address an urgent need for affordable housing, CHF Canada members have proposed resolutions to help leverage billions of dollars in existing co-op housing real estate to secure investments in new housing co-op development.
