Media Advisory - Humber Arts & Media Studios Grand Opening Ceremony
TORONTO, April 21 /CNW/ - Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning will hold a grand opening ceremony for the newly completed Humber Arts & Media Studios. The event will showcase how Humber is using federal and provincial funding to develop state-of-the-art learning centres to educate and train students.
Humber has partnered with the Toronto District School Board to lease the former Lakeshore Lions Arena for a 20-year period. The 53,000 square foot facility will serve more than 700 students and house programs from the School of Creative & Performing Arts and the School of Media Studies & Information Technology.
Students will study in leading-edge studios centred by a 3,000 square foot "black box" theatre. Other features include acting, cabaret, dance, film, media and television studios, rehearsal rooms, technical labs, scene shop, carpentry shop, a lecture hall and offices. The facility also includes a gymnasium, funded by Humber, which will be used by the college and the local community.
Funding for this project is being provided by the Government of Canada's Knowledge Infrastructure Program and through the Ontario Government's 2009 Budget.
