JOINED BY ONTARIO LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR, ONTARIO PREMIER AND NEW SAFETY
MINISTER AT CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY
ORILLIA, ON, Aug. 30 /CNW/ - Accredited media are invited to take part in a Change of Command ceremony tomorrow (August 31, 2010) where newly appointed Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Commissioner Chris D. Lewis will receive the OPP's traditional mantle of leadership.
The new Commissioner will be joined by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, The Honourable David C. Onley, the Ontario Premier, The Honourable Dalton McGuinty, and the newly-appointed Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, The Honourable Jim Bradley.
In keeping with a symbolic OPP tradition, Commissioner (Retired) Julian Fantino will pass the tipstaff on to Commissioner Lewis as he assumes his role as the 13th Commissioner of one of North America's largest deployed police organizations.
Commissioner Lewis will be available for questions following the official ceremony (at approximately 4:00 p.m.)
