Media Advisory - Jack Mintz on why Canadian investment rules give foreign governments a leg up
CALGARY, Feb. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - In the wake of the Nexen-CNOOC deal, a lot of attention has been paid to the concept of "net-benefit." But a major policy weakness has been overlooked, one that is giving foreign sovereign wealth funds a distinct advantage over Canadian investors.
At a media conference on Tuesday, Jack Mintz will release the findings of a groundbreaking report that recommends changes to ensure that Canadian business and investors have at least a level playing field in major takeover attempts by government-held foreign entities.
