Established by Mayor John Tory and the City of Toronto in partnership with Toronto Foundation, the #TorontoStrong Fund will support those affected by the van attack on Yonge Street on Monday, April 23, 2018. The #TorontoStrong Fund has received over $2.5 Million in donations since inception and has established a steering committee to steward the transparent and impactful donation of funds.
"On behalf of all LCBO customers who gave and all LCBO staff who asked for donations – it's an honour to be able to announce this fundraising total for the #TorontoStrong Fund," said George Soleas, President and CEO of the LCBO. "Our goal was to provide an avenue for those looking to direct their generosity and the amount raised not only speaks to the strength and spirit of our great city, but will no doubt help those touched by this tragic attack as they begin to heal."
"The #TorontoStrong Fund was created to ensure that the outpouring of generosity towards our City is used to support those who need it most," said Mayor John Tory. "This incredible donation from the LCBO, its customers and staff, is a tribute to the kindness and resilience that has been displayed in the aftermath of this tragic event and will help ensure the meaningful impact of the #TorontoStrong Fund."
"The contribution from LCBO customers and staff is the largest we've received to date. Thank you to everyone for this incredible kindness and support," said Sharon Avery, President & CEO, Toronto Foundation.
