Media advisory - Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal welcome General David Petraeus
MONTREAL, May 23, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the media are invited to join us to see and hear retired US General David Petraeus at the Canadian launch of the biography Galula – The Life and Writings of the French Officer Who Defined the Art of Counterinsurgency by Major Alain Cohen CD, Deputy Commanding Officer of the Fusiliers Mont-Royal, which will be followed by a mess dinner.

General David Petraeus is a former US Army general, commander of the military coalition in Iraq (2007–2008), commander of the International Security and Assistance Force in Afghanistan (2010–2011) and director of the CIA (2011–2012). His duties in modern conflicts have earned him recognition for being one of the most influential US generals since World War II. He is now Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, one of the largest investment funds in the world.
Montreal's first Francophone regiment, the Fusiliers Mont-Royal is a unit made up of 160 reservists whose main specialization is infantry. The Fus MR's mission is to train reservists for participation in domestic operations and, on a voluntary basis, in expeditionary (international) operations. Since 1869, the Fus MR have distinguished themselves in both world wars and have participated in modern conflicts and theatres of operation.
This activity is sponsored by the Fusiliers Mont-Royal foundation, whose role is dedicated to the duty of remembrance and maintaining the regiment's traditions.
