Olympic gold medalist Tammy Lee Shewchuk at Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest
WHAT: This Friday and Saturday, hundreds of girls from Ottawa and surrounding communities will gather at Scotiabank Place for the sixth annual Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest. This FREE event, offered in partnership with the Ottawa Senators, provides a unique blend of skills training, fun and encouragement to inspire girls to reach for their goals on and off the ice. WHO: Tammy Lee Shewchuk, (two-time gold medalist at the 2000 and 2001 Women's World Hockey Championships and 2002 Olympic gold medalist) Players from the Ottawa Senator's women's hockey team (CWHL) Players from the Carleton Raven's women's hockey team 450 novice, atom and peewee level girls (ages7 - 14 years) WHEN: Friday, January 22, 2010 5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (Shewchuk's presentation to begin at 8:00 p.m.) Saturday, January 23, 2010 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Shewchuk's presentation to begin at noon) WHERE: Scotiabank Place 1000 Palladium Drive, Ottawa ON (xx) Media to enter through Gate 3 WHY: Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest offers young girls the opportunity to learn from and interact with great role models, who will help the girls develop their on-ice game skills, encourage them to reach for their dreams and celebrate the game of hockey.
