Why: | One in five children in Ontario schools has asthma. The tragic death of 12-year-old Ryan Gibbons last year is a stark reminder of the need to create and maintain school environments that permit students and staff with asthma to breathe freely and safely. Drawing on the work of Public Health Schools Asthma Program experts affiliated with select Public Health Units, the Ontario Lung Association and Ophea have developed a guide -7 Simple Steps to Make School Asthma-Friendly - to help principals and teachers recognize and respond to the needs of children with asthma. |
