Media Advisory - Manning Foundation Launches Series of Papers on Municipal Government
First Paper on "The Role of Municipal Government" to be Released Monday August 19th
CALGARY, Aug. 15, 2013 /CNW/ - The Manning Foundation for Democratic Education, a registered charity dedicated to creating publicly available research and education to strengthen the building blocks of democracy, will release a series of papers on issues related to municipal governance starting Monday, August 19th.
The first will be a '101' on the ideal role of municipal government, what municipal governments should own, what they should regulate, and what they should spend on. The paper will issue a strong challenge to the scope creep, tax increases and growth of municipal government occurring across Canada.
