TORONTO, Aug. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Half of this year's Doors Open Ontario events are taking place this fall - many incorporating the theme of the 2013 program, "Cultural Expressions." Ontario's architectural and artistic showpieces, community landmarks and natural wonders are waiting to be explored - all free of charge.
This year, participants have the opportunity to showcase their talent with the Doors Open Ontario 2013 Art Contest. This visual arts contest celebrates the Cultural Expressions theme and the many artistic traditions that have helped shape the province. Since its launch in 2002, Doors Open Ontario has grown from 17 to 55 annual events, representing hundreds of communities across the province. In total, nearly 5 million visits have been made to 5,150 different sites. Visitors to Doors Open Ontario events have spent an estimated $39 million in Ontario's communities.
