LONDON, ON, March 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Assistant Commissioner Stephen White, Commanding Officer Royal Canadian Mounted Police "O" Division (RCMP Ontario) is pleased to invite you to join him for his first ever Twitter chat.
When: Wednesday, March 12, 2014
Time: 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Where: Follow and use hashtag #COChat on Twitter to participate
Theme: "Getting to know the RCMP in Ontario"
The Commanding Officer will be tweeting using the hashtag #COChat on the RCMP in Ontario Twitter account @RCMPONT.
RCMP in Ontario has been using Facebook since 2010 and Twitter since 2011, to share information about events, media releases, advisories and good news stories but this is the first time that an RCMP Commanding Officer has taken to the "Twitterverse" to host a regular chat.
"Twitter chats are a whole new world for me but one that I am tremendously excited about," said Commanding Officer Stephen White. "Twitter, and social media as a whole, allows access to people that we might not ever have the opportunity to meet or talk with. It's vital to the safety and security of our communities, that we use the tools available to us, to reach out to the people we serve and encourage two-way dialogue."
The RCMP provides a vast array of Federal policing services in Ontario. However, because our officers are usually in civilian attire, and not readily seen on the streets of Ontario, many people are not aware of the extent of our operations in the province. For more information on the RCMP's Federal policing role in Ontario visit our "O" Division website.
