Media Advisory - Media availability of Canadian Human Rights Chief Commissioner at Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Alberta National Event Français
EDMONTON, March 25 2014 /CNW/ - March 27 - 30, 2014 – On Thursday, March 27, 2014, Acting Chief Commissioner David Langtry will be inducted as a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Honorary Witness at the Alberta National Event in Edmonton. This will be the seventh and final event marking the painful legacy of the Indian Residential Schools.
Acting Chief Commissioner David Langtry will be called upon to bear witness on March 30, 2014.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada has a mandate to learn the truth about what happened in the residential schools and to inform all Canadians about it. The Honorary Witness Circle is comprised of high profile individuals willing to serve as ambassadors for the TRC in their own circles of influence. It includes the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, among many others.
