OTTAWA, Nov. 9, 2013 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Orléans and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs, will join His Excellency Hee-yong Cho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Canada, and His Worship Jim Watson, Mayor of Ottawa, for a special ceremony to pay tribute to the more than 26,000 Canadians who served in the Korean War. The year 2013 is the Year of the Korean War Veteran.
The National Capital Unit of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada (KVA) holds this annual commemorative ceremony in Ottawa at the same time as the Remembrance Day ceremony at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan, Republic of Korea.
