Media Advisory - Metrolinx Showcases $25-Million Canvas For West Toronto Graffiti Walls
Transportation Minister Murray Refuses to Discuss Alternatives with Area Residents
TORONTO, Sept. 17, 2013 /CNW/ -
Who: | West Toronto residents overwhelmingly opposed to the Metrolinx plan to build five-metre (16-feet) tall noise mitigation barriers in their neighbourhood. |
What: | Metrolinx Noise Wall Public Presentation - As part of an elaborate communications initiative, Metrolinx is giving residents in Roncesvalles, the Junction Triangle, Bloordale, Brockton and the West Bend a preview of the massive concrete and plexiglass walls they have chosen to install across West Toronto in the spring of next year. |
Where: | The Lithuanian House 1573 Bloor Street West (Bloor & Dundas) |
When: | Tonight - Tuesday, September 17, 2013 |
6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. | |
Why: | Residents have been offered nothing more than a choice of colour in a process manipulated by Metrolinx to create a false impression of support for their wall plan. Liberal Transportation Minister Glen Murray has provided no defense of the misleading communication practises and has refused for months to meet with concerned residents to discuss a green alternative designed by award-winning Toronto architects James Brown and Kim Storey. |
