MONTREAL, Sept. 9, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Health, will announce the launch of a national initiative on dementia research funded by the Government of Canada and partners across the country. The Minister will be joined by Dr. Alain Beaudet from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Dr. Renaldo Battista from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé, Mimi Lowi-Young from the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg from the Jewish General Hospital, Dr. Howard Chertkow from the Jewish General Hospital's Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research, and Mrs. Diana Nicholson, a Montreal resident whose husband has dementia and who will share her experience as a caregiver.
Minister Ambrose will participate in a photo opportunity for media in which Dr. Chertkow will demonstrate tests for dementia.
