Media advisory - Minister Carolyn Bennett to Announce Funding for Pikangikum First Nation to Connect to Ontario's Provincial Electrical Grid Français
THUNDER BAY, ON, Aug. 15, 2017 /CNW/ - Please be advised that the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs, will announce funding to Wataynikaneyap Power to build a 117-kilometre grid line from Red Lake to the distribution system in Pikangikum First Nation. The project, once complete, will connect Pikangikum First Nation to the Ontario provincial electrical grid - providing safe and reliable power to Pikangikum residents. Sophie Kiwala, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation and Member of Provincial Parliament for Kingston and the Islands will also be present and available to speak to media.
