WASHINGTON, D.C., June 26, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Kent Hehr, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence will meet with U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Dr. David J. Shulkin and other senior government officials in Washington, D.C., this week.
This will be the first official meeting between Minister Hehr and Secretary Shulkin and will include a tour of the Walter Reed Medical Centre. The meeting is an opportunity to discuss how the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs addresses issues similar to those faced by Veterans and their families in Canada. Topics of discussion will include Veteran transition services, homelessness and mental health, all of which are important issues facing both countries.
