MEDIA ADVISORY - Minister of State (Finance) Joins Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE) and BMO Financial Group To Announce Expansion of Financial Literacy Program in Schools Across Canada
TORONTO, April 10, 2015 /CNW/ - Talk With Our Kids About Money, a program created by the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE), and powered by BMO, is designed to get teachers and parents engaged in helping young Canadians learn more about money and personal finances and prepare for their financial futures. Sprucecourt Public School in downtown Toronto is hosting an event on April 15, 2015 to launch and celebrate Talk with Our Kids about Money Day (TWOKAM) Day across the country. Federal Minister of State (Finance) Kevin Sorenson and Financial Literacy leader Jane Rooney will attend. The event will recognize the accomplishments of students who participated in the school's Money Fair, a program designed to get Sprucecourt students actively participating in 'Talk Day'. TWOKAM, piloted originally in Toronto and Montreal in 2013, is expanding into more and more classrooms across Canada this year. Last year some 1,300 classes participated and in 2015 over 2,000 classes have registered. Talk With Our Kids About Money Day is the third Wednesday in April each year - April 15th in 2015.
